XISU
International Student Education
Having begun admitting international students in 1979, Xi’an International Studies University (XISU) established the first dedicated institution for teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Northwest China. For more than 40 years, over 20,000 international students from 45 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, have completed their studies in XISU and returned home.
1979
Short-term training programs were launched.
1983
Chinese language study programs were launched.
1985
Chinese Language and Culture Training Center was established.
1994
School of Chinese Language and Culture was founded.
1995
XISU became the only institution in the northwest of China entitled to award Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Language and Literature to international students.
May, 2006
XISU was designated as one of the three hosting universities for Chinese Government Scholarship students in Shaanxi.
September, 2009
XISU started recruiting international students under Confucius Institute Scholarship and its enrollment for international students in the Master of TCSOL program (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) has long ranked first in Northwest China.
2012
XISU was approved to establish the Xi'an Multilingual Base for the International Promotion of Chinese.
2013
Confucius Institute Office was established.
2019
All undergraduate's, master's and doctoral programs were fully opened to international applicants.
