Program Introduction


The Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under the Ministry of Education of China established the  “Master of Translation Program for International Students" in 2022. It is dedicated to cultivating internationally-oriented talents with strong moral and academic integrity, solid professional skills, and the ability to leverage multilingual advantages to facilitate exchanges between China and other countries in political, economic, cultural, and other fields.

Xi'an International Studies University (XISU), located in the ancient capital city of Xi'an, is one of the first four foreign language universities established in the People's Republic of China. It is a member of the Conférence Internationale Permanente d'Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interprètes (CIUTI) and has been designated as a “First-Class Discipline Construction University” in Shaanxi Province. XISU offers a First-Level Discipline Doctoral Degree Authorization in Foreign Languages and Literature (covering 16 second-level doctoral disciplines) and a Professional Doctoral Degree Authorization in Translation, demonstrating its strong disciplinary strength in foreign languages. As one of China's most important bases for cultivating foreign language talents, XISU has over 40 years of experience in international education, accumulating rich teaching expertise and having successfully educated tens of thousands of international students. The university adheres to the educational philosophy of cultivating versatile talents with global vision, innovative thinking, and professional competence. Eligibility Requirements

1.  Applicants shall be a Non-Chinese citizen who abide by the laws of the People's Republic of China, have no criminal record, and demonstrate good personal integrity.


2. Applicants shall be under 40 years of age and meet the physical examination requirements stipulated by the Ministry of Education of China.

3. Applicants shall hold a Bachelor's Degree or above in Chinese language, Translating, or other related majors. Prior to enrollment in the year of admission, applicants shall obtain a Bachelor's Degree Certificate and a Graduation Certificate recognized by the Ministry of Education of the people's Republic of China, or a “Verification Report for Overseas Academic Degrees and Diplomas” issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).

4. Applicants shall have a Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 6 or above, and submit the corresponding score report.

5. Applicants with translation work experience will be given priority.

Majors and Enrollment Quotas


Majors:Japanese Translation、Japanese Interpreting、Russian Translation、Russian Interpreting、English Translation、English Interpreting、French Translation、French Interpreting、German Translation

Enrollment Quotas: 5 students in total

Scholarship Duration

3 years.

Note: XISU will conduct annual reviews in accordance with relevant regulations. Only those who continue to meet the eligibility criteria may retain their scholarship for the following academic year; otherwise, the scholarship will be revoked.

Scholarship Coverage

Tuition fees, accommodation fees, living allowance, and medical insurance.

Application Procedure


1. Eligible applicants shall complete the online application through the website (https://www.chinese.cn/page/#/pcpage/project_detail) by March 31, 2026.

2. Applicants shall also complete the online application through the website (http://xisu.chiwest.cn/) (International Student Online Application System of XISU)by March 31, 2026.

Notes:

(1) Applicants are responsible for the authenticity and completeness of all submitted materials. XISU will not process applications that contain false or incomplete information.

(2) Applicants shall keep their phone numbers accessible and regularly check their email and the application system, as XISU may contact applicants based on individual circumstances.

Selection Procedure

XISU will organize a panel of experts to comprehensively evaluate applicants based on their academic background, academic performance, language proficiency, research capacity, publication record, and supervisor recommendations. The most qualified candidates will be selected as scholarship nominees and submitted to Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of Ministry of Education for final approval. Scholarship results are expected to be finalized by the end of June. Subsequently, XISU will notify scholarship recipients via email and send them the “Admission Notice” and the “Visa Application Form for Study in China” as soon as possible.

Other Information


1. Should you fail to enroll in China by the specified deadline without special justification, your scholarship eligibility will not be reserved.

2. Scholarship recipients may not change the host university, program of study, or duration of study as specified in the Admission Notice after arriving in China.
