Visa Information

International students are required to hold a valid passport, the Admission Notice issued by the university, and the Visa Application Form (DQ/JW202/JW201) when applying for a student visa (X1 or X2 visa) from the Chinese embassy or consulates.

X1 Visa

Students whose period of study is shorter than one month or longer than six months will be issued an X1 visa.

Validity of the X1 Visa: The X1 visa is valid for 30 days after entry and allows only a single entry. Students whose period of study exceeds six months must apply for a Residence Permit through the school within 30 days of entry into the country.

The materials required for students applying for the Residence Permit for the first time are:

1.Visa Application Form (JW202 or JW201)

2.Admission Notice

3.Copy of the Temporary Accommodation Registration Form

*If you live on campus, please obtain the Temporary Accommodation Registration Form from your school. If you live off campus, you must complete the registration online or at the local police station within 24 hours after arrival. If your accommodation address changes, you must update the registration within 24 hours.

4.Physical Examination Report issued by the International Travel Healthcare Center

5.Introduction Letter for Visa Application (Issued by the Student's School)

When you are outside China, you must enter China before this date. Otherwise, your visa will become invalid. Please note that this is not the duration of your permitted stay in China.

X2 Visa

Students whose period of study is longer than one month and shorter than six months will be issued an X2 visa.

The number here indicates how many times you may enter China. In most cases, it is “1”, meaning you may enter China only once. Students with special needs may apply for one additional entry on their X2 visa. For details, please contact the staff at the International Education Center.

The number here indicates the number of days you are allowed to stay in China. Your visa validity period = the date of the entry stamp + the permitted duration of stay.

Residence Permit

A student residence permit is generally issued to international students whose period of study exceeds six months. Before the permit expires, holders may enter and exit China multiple times. For self-funded students, the validity of the residence permit depends on the tuition fees paid. However, the permit may be extended for up to one year at a time for all enrolled students. Students must extend their residence permits before they expire to avoid illegal stay in China. The extension process usually takes about two weeks.

This is the validity period of your residence permit. Please make sure to leave China or apply for an extension before this date
